Mother's Day Q&A with Sandi Carter

Introducing Sandi Carter...

One of our newest friends of the brand, Sandi exudes a quiet confidence. Naturally poised and always polished, she is the founder of Blush Skin Clinic

I first came across Sandi when I saw her wearing our Yellow By Your Side Dress. Since then, a few pieces of CC have made their way into her wardrobe, but it wasn’t until recently that I had the chance to meet her in person. Just four weeks postpartum, she welcomed me into her Auckland clinic, where I began my own skincare journey with her.

Managing three clinics across Christchurch, Auckland, and Whangārei, Sandi pours her time and energy into both her ‘work babies’ and her beautiful daughter, Indy. Having visited both the Christchurch and Auckland clinics myself, I can say her ability to make you feel instantly at ease is undeniable. It’s a feeling that carries through every touchpoint of her clinics — a true reflection of the care, warmth, and high standard she brings to everything she does.

We chatted all things skin, style, and that ever-elusive work and family “balance”. She’s right — it truly takes a village.

How do you navigate the balance between showing up for your business and being present at home?

It’s an ongoing balance, and one that isn’t always easy, as the two worlds naturally overlap. That said, we’ve been very intentional with how we’ve structured Blush and my role within it, allowing for flexibility so I can both support and elevate our team while still being present at home where it matters most.

As mothers, we are constantly giving our time and energy to others—what do you do for yourself to make sure your own cup is full?

I’ve learned to prioritise small, meaningful moments. Something as simple as enjoying my morning coffee in bed sets a calm tone for the day. I also make an effort to continue booking appointments for myself. It's just a matter of being organised and planning ahead with pumping so Indy can be with her dad.

As someone in the skin and beauty space, has motherhood changed your perspective on self-care?

I’ve always prioritised clean, considered products, but now I’m even more intentional about what I use. I also have a newfound appreciation for the power of sleep, how profoundly it impacts not only how you look, but how you feel and function.

Best piece of advice to other working mothers? Or a piece of advice you’ve received?

The best advice I’ve received and continue to remind myself of is that it truly takes a village to raise both a child and a “business baby.” Learning to lean into support, whether at home or at work, is so important, especially as someone who naturally tries to do everything myself.

What do you love most about being a mum?

Indy has just started to laugh, and I never realised just how much joy such a small moment could bring. It’s incredibly special those little milestones make everything else fade into the background.

What are your non-negotiable daily rituals when it comes to skincare or taking a moment for yourself?

We recently launched OLIIV Ever Oil, which I used throughout my pregnancy on both my face and belly, and continue to rely on postpartum. During this stage, skin can become noticeably drier, so I love that it’s rich in omegas and essential nutrients, it’s a simple ritual that feels both restorative and indulgent.
